How do I install and use PackshotCreator?
PackshotCreator solutions are as easy to install as a printer or any other Plug and Play device. All our solutions include both an installation guide and a user manual with step-by-step instructions. You can also download these instruction guides and manuals from our Web site.
First install the software, then connect the USB cable to your PC and finally launch the program to start creating images with PackshotCreator. To make sure your PackshotCreator solution is up and running smoothly, we offer one-month unlimited access to our Hotline plus a one-year warranty on our products.
Can I use my own camera?
PackshotCreator includes a digital camera for shooting optimal product images. Only this camera may be used with our digital photo studios (except for the PackshotSpin Reflex Option, see question 4). Our preconfigured digital cameras guarantee system performance and hence the best results.
But my camera is exactly the same as the one you offer!
We cannot guarantee results if you use your own camera, especially in terms of sharpness and color accuracy. Also, we do not recommend using a digital camera designed for other purposes, even if it is a similar model to the one we offer.
Can I use my own Reflex digital camera with your system?
Some of our solutions (like PackshotSpin) may include the Canon EOS 450D digital camera. Our systems are pre-configured to work with Reflex technology (Reflex option) and are compatible with the following cameras: Canon EOS 1000D, Canon EOS 40D, Canon EOS 50D, Canon EOS 5D Mark II. Newer models are constantly being added to this list.
Can I see a live demonstration of PackshotCreator solutions?
Most of our clients buy our solutions without testing them first or seeing a live demo. Our solutions are as easy to use as a printer, scanner or other peripheral device. The PackshotCreator software CD contains a user manual with step-by-step instructions on how to create all kinds of images.
If you still cannot decide which product to buy, you have several options:
- You can visit our Paris showroom
- You can watch an online demonstration via Webcam
- You can send us some samples of your products, which we will photograph using PackshotCreator and then send you the images by email.
- You can visit our stands at various trade shows
Can I buy PackshotCreator Classic without the 360/HD option and add the 360/HD option later?
Yes. The classic PackshotCreator models without the 360/HD option (PC-controlled photo image-creation workstation) can always be upgraded to 360/HD.
However, it is probably best to buy a model with the 360 or HD option included, as it is less expensive than buying an upgrade at a later date.
How large (kb) are the photos produced by PackshotCreator?
The size of photos depends on the resolution you choose either in the software setup before taking pictures, during editing or when saving files. Our system has two file save formats for photos: JPEG and TIFF. These formats can be saved with a maximum resolution of 300 dpi, which is especially suitable for print.
The size of your photos also depends on which of these two image formats you choose. Also, the PackshotCreator software lets you batch resize photos while saving them.
PackshotCreator generates animations in GIF and SWF (Flash) formats. The size of your animations mostly depends on the number (from four to 200) and size (in pixels) of the photos you choose to create your animations. The recommended image format for creating animations is 72 dpi, which is the standard resolution for the Web.
How can I get the best image quality?
Our system automatically shoots photos at 300 dpi, which is the standard print resolution for catalogs, advertisements, product branding, flyers, etc.
Note: The latest scanners can save scanned files at 1200 dpi or more, which is more than required for product communication. A resolution of 300 dpi is sufficient for printing and is widely used by the jewelry industry, for example.
Our digital cameras are preconfigured with an ICC colorimetric profile, and our lightboxes recreate a natural lighting environment simulating daylight for optimal results that do not require any adjustments.
Is PackshotCreator compatible with a Mac?
We do not recommend using PackshotCreator with a Mac, as it was specifically designed for a PC.
However, you can install PackshotCreator on Macs with Intel processors (Mac Intel). Prior to installation, you will have to partition your hard drive and install Windows XP on one of those partitions. Note that to do this, you will need special software and advanced technical skills.
We suggest that you install PackshotCreator / PackshotSpin on a PC that has the minimum configuration to run our solutions.
Reminder: A PC laptop with the minimum configuration to run PackshotCreator costs around 500 Euros (about $700 USD)
Important: PackshotCreator solutions are only compatible with Windows XP and Windows 7.
Can I use PackshotCreator with Windows Vista?
PackshotCreator / PackshotSpin are not yet compatible with Windows Vista.
Can I use PackshotCreator with Windows 7?
All PackshotCreator solutions are compatible with Windows 7.
